World Urban Parks Webinar - August 13 - Managing Biodiversity in a Changing Climate
Webinar Description: Join City Parks Alliance, World Urban Parks and World Parks Academy for a webinar exploring strategies for managing biodiversity in a changing climate. Speakers, German A. Enriquez Flores and Yvonne Lynch, will share strategies from their work in three geographically diverse cities -- Leon, Riyadh and Melbourne. The speakers will share how they are using parks and urban forests as laboratories to understand the impacts of climate change and test effective adaptation and management strategies. Although each city faces unique climate challenges, their approaches to climate adaptation, education and research offer similar lessons for how to plan and manage parks and public spaces in a way that supports biodiversity in a rapidly changing climate. Speakers will share strategies for training and redeploying staff to engage them in ecological monitoring through their routine maintenance tasks, how to plan for and adapt flora, particularly trees, in anticipation of climate changes, and how to collect and share data regionally and internationally to inform adaptation efforts.

Speakers: Caryn Ernst, City Parks Alliance
German Enriquez, Parque Metropolitano de Leon
Yvonne Lynch, Royal Commission for Riyadh City
